It’s 2018, and holy crap are there a lot of phenomenal films coming out this year. It’s the year of Black Panther, Mary Poppins, and the long-awaited INCREDIBLES 2! While we all hope that these new releases and sequels live up to the hype we’ve created, there are a select few that have already had the media buzzing and cosplayers prepping for their next comic-convention. So grab a cup of a coffee and your cosplanner and check out the 20 most anticipated films of 2018!

 

20. Black Panther

Release Date: February 15

King T’Challa takes his place at the throne after the events in Captain American: Civil War. Wakanda has a new leader, but not everyone agrees. Under the threat of a coo, the Black Panther must work with C.I.A agent Everrtt K. Ross to stop the comings of a world war. 

 

19. Tomb Raider

Lara Croft, a highly intelligent and beautiful archaeologist-adventurer,  tracks down her long-lost father’s last known whereabouts. On an riveting adventure to an island in the middle of the Devil’s Sea, Lara uncovers cryptic clues that may tell her what happened to her father all those years ago.


 

18. Pacific Rim Uprising

Sequel to the 2013 film, Pacific Rim, the new generation of Jaeger pilots are ready to learn from Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost. Reunited with Mako Mori ten years later, they must lead the pilots ( including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara) against a new Kaiju threat.

 

17. Ready Player One

It’s 2045 and James Halliday, the creator of the virtual reality world, OASIS,  has passed away. But once a video is released announcing the series of Easter Eggs hidden in the OASIS that contains the key to his fortune, the citizens stop at nothing to find the hidden treasure in the VR world. Wade Watts finds the first clue which leads to a grueling hunt to stop him, and anyone, from find the Egg. Based on the book written by Ernest Cline.

 

16. Super Troopers 2

Release Date: April 20

Super Troopers returns 17 years later when a dispute erupts on the U.S. and Canada border. Now it’s up to troopers Thorny, Jeff Foster, Mac, Rabbit, and Rod to establish a Highway Patrol and take charge of the Canadian Mounties.

 

15. Avengers: Infinity War

The Avengers are back, and  they’re teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to put a stop to Thanos, who has been meticulously collecting the Infinity Stones, which he will use to end the universe.

 

14. Deadpool 2

Wade Wilson returns in an epic montage of fighting ninjas, painting masterpieces, and stroking unicorns in a tight red spandex suit. Deadpool is back in Deadpool 2, 3, 4, 5…we’re probably never going to get rid of this bastard.

 

13. Solo: A Star Wars Story

Release Date: May 25

Finally, the complete story behind our favorite intergalactic pilot. Solo tells the story of a young Han Solo and how he became involved in the criminal world, a friend to Chewbacca, and one of the best pilots in the Rebellion.

 

12. Oceans 8

Release Date: June 8

Debbie Ocean is released on parole, but her crime streak is just beginning. She recruits eight badass, albeit retired, criminals to come together one more time to pull off the perfect crime at one of New York’s most prestigious events: the Met Gala. 

 

11. Incredibles 2

Mr. Incredible has hung up his cape and has taken on the role of stay-at-home-daddy.  But while he’s cleaning up after Jack-Jack, his wife, Elastigirl, is out saving the world.

 

10. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The island has been deserted and the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park are left to the wild. 8. Ant-Man and the Wasp

Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym pull Scott Lang from job as dad turned superhero, to work on an urgent mission that pairs him with The Wasp.  This assignment unintentionally brings the two closer together, revealing unknown secrets about their past. 

 

7. Venom

Release Date: October 5

Based on the Marvel Comics characters, Eddie Brock is working at the Daily Bugle as a journalist when the symbiote turns him into the anti-hero, Venom. Little is known about the plot to this film and its ties into Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. However as of this writing, Holland appears on the film’s IMDb page as Peter Parker in this new film.

 

6. Halloween

4. Fantastic Beasts 2: The Crimes of Grindlewald

3. Wreck It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet

Six years after Ralph and Vanelloppe salvage the arcade from Turbo, Sugar Rush has . Now, Ralph and his friends must fix the arcade by breaking into the internet via WiFi.

This film became even more anticipated once it was revealed at D23 that all of Disney’s most notable Disney princesses (from Ariel to Elsa) will be making special appearance in Ralph’s new adventure!

 

2. Aquaman

Based on the characters from DC Comics, comes the story of Arthur Curry’s rise to claim the throne in the underwater world of Atlantis. As heir to the throne, he must learn to protect and lead his people as a threat looms to threaten their way of life.
